ildlife Photography is a fantastic hobby and can be enjoyed by every member of the family – young and old. With this in mind, we have developed the first family photo safari package that we know of at the wonderful Pumba Private Game Reserve in The Eastern Cape at the end of the Garden Route.

Along with amazing accommodation at your own private lodge, there will be photographic tuition (cameras supplied), amazing game viewing, great food, evenings around the campfire and plenty of time to relax by the infinity pool with views to die for!

All Year Round

The Pangolin Photo Academy sits on a hill overlooking the beautiful Pumba Private Game Reserve with unrivalled views right across the property.

You and your family (or indeed group of friends) will have the whole camp to yourself on this safari. There is plenty to do but the main activity will be the wildlife photography that sets this reserve apart from the others.

At your disposal will be a dedicated game viewer driven by one of our trained photo guides and you will have access to several state of the art Canon DSLR cameras. Your photo guide will be on hand to show you how they work and to make sure that you not only make the most of every photo opportunity to but help you improve your knowledge during your safari.

During the day there will be morning and afternoon game drives. For clients just wanting to go on a game drive without the photo tuition there is a second game viewer which can be used for general game viewing.

Back at the camp there is a beautiful swimming pool and sun deck to enjoy with spectacular views across the reserve. You can sit back and relax with a cold drink and a good book and watch herds of zebra and giraffe stroll across the plains below.

Each of the seven rooms is ensuite and air conditioned with views across the reserve. For families with small children, there are rooms with communal entrance ways so you can be opposite each other. The entire camp is fenced so the kids can have free run of the property in complete safety.

The central area comprises a lounge, bar, dining room and a large terrace where most of the meals are served. The meals are lovingly prepared by the resident chefs and during your stay there will be a braai (barbeque) night on the terrace which is always very popular. The menu is good home cooked fare with special dietary requests catered for.

After dinner clients often walk down to the”boma” below the terrace to enjoy a roaring fire, compare stories from the two drives earlier, listen to the sounds of the African Bush and spend quality time with friends and family.

For those guests feeling like a bit of pampering, there is a world class spa at one of the other lodges on the reserve and appointments for treatments and massages can be made upon arrival.

The lodge is your home in the bush for as long as you like and the staff are on hand to make sure that you and your family and friends feel right at home.

Photo Tip

If you don’t have a fancy camera don’t worry as the lodge has six Canon 7D Mark II cameras with 100-400mm lenses that you can rent for a nominal charge.
