William Steel Photography
From a young age, Wiliam Steel was captivated by the wildlife that surrounded him. Growing up in Botswana, he was able to explore and discover the beauty of the untamed wilderness, and it sparked his love for nature. He believes that great photography is a combination of beauty and intrigue, and he has always tried to focus on these aspects regardless of the subject he is photographing. He hopes to highlight the beauty in unexpected places, encapsulating the subject’s unique self, capturing emotion, and with that, telling stories. He is fortunate enough to call photography my career, but first and foremost it is his passion.
After finishing an MBA degree in the UK, William decided that corporate life was not for him, and moved back to Botswana. His extensive knowledge of the country secured him a job in the filming industry, working on projects for industry giants such as the BBC and National Geographic. After a few years spent living out of filming vehicles, William realised that his real passion lay in sharing his love for photography, wildlife, and travel, and began leading photographic tours internationally. Williams’ unique style, and pursuit to create beauty in even the most common of species, has resulted in numerous local and international publications, as well as awards in world-renowned competitions. In 2017 William became a Sigma Ambassador for South Africa, where he currently resides.
