Reece Matthews

Born and raised in Gaborone, Reece was fortunate to spend much of his childhood visiting family in the Chobe and Maun — the gateway to the Okavango Delta. Early memories of elephants wandering nearby, spontaneous night drives in search of elusive wildlife, and delivery flights into the Delta sparked a lifelong passion for the bush.

It wasn’t until he spent five years living in Calgary, Canada, that Reece truly realised how extraordinary Northern Botswana is. Being away gave him a new appreciation for the incredible wildlife he had grown up with — experiences many people only dream of having.

After studying economics at university, Reece realised his heart belonged in the bush, and returned home to pursue that calling. He was fortunate to begin his journey with Pangolin through a three-month internship that introduced him to every aspect of the tourism industry — and it was during this period that he also discovered a passion for wildlife photography.

Today, Reece combines his love for photography, conservation and guiding to help guests experience Botswana through his fresh eyes, sharing both the wonder he felt as a child and the appreciation he gained from seeing it from afar.
